Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN)

TPAN empowers people living with HIV through peer-led programming, support services, information dissemination, and advocacy. We also provide services to the broader community to increase HIV knowledge and sensitivity and reduce the risk of transmission.

Our support services include buddy programs and support groups meeting the vast array of needs faced by people living with HIV. In the past year, these peer-led support services have expanded to include SHE, a group dedicated to the needs of women living with HIV, and Spirit Alive, a group supported by AIDS Pastoral Care Network, guiding people living with HIV through coping by providing a non-denominational spiritual approach.

Prevention services include expanded access to our Needle Exchange program, training for a new team of OZ (Outreach Zone) volunteers for Halsted Street peer-led prevention outreach, and TEAM (Treatment Education Advocacy Management), our newest Prevention for Positives program launched in spring 2003.

We have grown to continue our Committed to Living Series, a monthly treatment education program. In addition, our annual publications, The Positively Aware 2003 HIV Drug Guide, the 2003 Chicago Area HIV Services Directory, and the 2003 Chicago Area Directory of HIV Professionals are the most comprehensive and valuable resource tools we have ever published.
